PM, HSS and HSSE milling cutters from Nachreiner for a wide range of applications
HSSE and HSS milling cutters are essential tools in machining technology. In metalworking, many processes would not be possible without HSSE cutters. Alongside the proven HSSE and HSS qualities for milling cutters, Nachreiner also offers PM (powder metallurgy) as a cost-effective alternative to solid carbide (VHM). This technology further enhances the toughness of HSS and HSSE cutters without reaching the higher price point of VHM cutters, which can be excessive for many applications. The PM option allows HSSE and HSS cutters to be applied to a wider range of materials in metalworking—offering a very economical price with excellent tool life and high processing quality, as is standard with Nachreiner tools. Additionally, our entire range of milling cutters can be ordered with specialized coatings to improve properties such as temperature resistance and reduce sensitivity to challenging environmental conditions. We also offer custom-made HSS and HSSE cutters according to individual specifications. Contact us to learn more—we won’t disappoint you.
The Nachreiner program covers all common types of HSS, HSSE, and PM milling cutters
In addition to basic milling cutters for everyday machining, our catalog includes nearly all standard milling tool variations for industrial production, midsized manufacturing, and trades that rely on quality metalworking tools. Key products in our HSSE and HSS milling cutter catalog include:
- Multi-flute cutters
- Roughing cutters
- Slotting cutters
- T-slot cutters
- Angle cutters
- Shank cutters
- Face milling cutters
What materials can you machine with HSSE and HSS (optional PM) cutters?
Our HSS and HSSE cutters demonstrate that solid carbide (VHM) is not always necessary. The range of metals and other materials you can machine with high-speed steel (HSS) has expanded greatly. HSSE further enhances these capabilities with an alloy that includes 5% cobalt, and PM (powder metallurgy) significantly increases cutter toughness. Here are a few materials that can be effectively machined with cutters from this range:
- Aluminum
- Steel
- Copper
- Iron
- Brass
- Various plastics
In addition, other alloyed and non-alloyed metals with similar strengths can also be machined. For stainless steel and other high-strength metals or very tough plastics, we recommend our premium VHM cutters. Most of our cutters can be resharpened at least once (often several times) to extend tool life significantly. We’re happy to provide information about our reconditioning program for milling tools, which also applies to products from other manufacturers.
