VHM universal drills 12xD by Nachreiner
There is a direct relationship between drill length and behavior during use when it comes to drilling depth. The longer the spiral drill, the greater the risk of deflection. Therefore, it is especially important that the guide lands, which are responsible for stable and precise lateral guidance, are designed to be high-quality and stable. That’s why we offer solid carbide universal drills in 12xD to ensure that the relatively large drilling depth can be maintained with an appropriate metal drill in regular operation. Using solid carbide here makes a lot of sense, as solid carbide is not only ideal for machining high-strength metals and other materials but also improves the inherent stability of the 12xD universal drill. This reduces the risk of tool breakage during the drilling process. The guide lands of the drill are particularly carefully ground, as is the tip, which allows for easy feed. The length of the drill is calculated by multiplying the diameter by the respective tool number, in this case, 12. In addition to the 12xD universal drill, you will find other sizes and versions of these spiral drills for specific drilling depths in the Nachreiner range.
The 12xD solid carbide universal spiral drill features four guide lands and a point angle of 140 degrees. It is equipped with cooling channels to ensure internal cooling. Despite the high temperature resistance of solid carbide, this is particularly useful for longer spiral drills. The metal drill, manufactured in Type N, allows for very good chip removal, which is not obstructed by the coolant discharge. The latter is an important aspect often overlooked in low-cost products, which can lead to problems in the production process.
Solid carbide spiral drills are better for many applications with 12xD drilling depth
Compared to HSS or HSSE, solid carbide metal drills are capable of machining materials with very high strength values. Therefore, in mass production, solid carbide universal drills for 12xD drilling depths are typically used when drilling in stainless steel and similar materials. The cutting speed achievable with solid carbide tools is significantly higher, especially when special coatings are applied. This can often lead to a significant reduction in processing times in the production process. Should you require custom-made tools, special coatings, or other versions of existing tools, please contact us. We often find suitable solutions for your requirements that may not be immediately apparent in our standard range. Our individual advice from knowledgeable staff is, of course, always available to you. By the way, we are happy to regrinding your 12xD universal drills and other drills for you, provided that it is technically feasible. We advise against resharpening on your own unless you have the necessary expertise and equipment for it. Our regrinding service can save you money, as the lifespan of many high-quality Nachreiner cutting tools can be extended through professional refurbishment.
