VHM countersinks with a countersink angle of 90 degrees

When deburring or countersinking existing core holes, VHM countersinks are essential tools for achieving precise and high-quality results on the workpiece. Our popular VHM countersinks (solid carbide) feature a 90-degree countersink angle, making them the most common solution in metalworking for cone-shaped countersinks. Of course, other countersink angles are also available, depending on the specific application. Common countersink angles for VHM countersinks include:

  • 60°
  • 75°
  • 82°
  • 90°
  • 120°

These various countersink angles meet the different requirements posed by each metalworking operation. VHM countersinks with a 60-degree angle are primarily used for deburring, while 75-degree countersinks are ideal for sinking rivet heads. In Germany and throughout Europe, metric standards (especially DIN) are key in metal processing. However, there are also differing standards for screws and other tools that impact the size of the countersink angle. German and European countersunk screws, based on metric standards, are generally countersunk with a VHM countersink at a 90-degree angle, whereas U.S. standards require an 82-degree angle. Additionally, sheet metal rivets are countersunk into the core hole using a VHM countersink with a 120-degree angle.

Smooth operation of the VHM sinker

To facilitate clean work, most countersinks on the market are equipped with an odd number of cutting edges. Nachreiner countersinks feature three high-quality solid carbide cutting edges, ensuring very smooth operation. The resulting chips are cleanly and completely removed through the special flute profile. Depending on the application, various shank types are available to complement different countersink head designs. Common shank types include:

  • Morse taper shank
  • Bit shank
  • Three-flat shank
  • Cylindrical shank

Availability of different designs may vary based on demand, but we can generally provide all countersinks in the required size and form within a short timeframe. If you cannot find a specific countersink design in our range, please contact us directly. We can often source alternatives or offer a quote for custom solutions. The same applies to additional services, such as coating for tool enhancement or re-sharpening high-quality tools—whether produced by Nachreiner or by other manufacturers. For us, service is no coincidence.
