DIN 340
Premium DIN 340 Twist Drills from Nachreiner
In contrast to the DIN 338 standard, which specifies short twist drills with cylindrical shanks, DIN 340 twist drills are designed as long drills with a cylindrical shank. Another feature of these metal drills is their availability in HSS (high-speed steel) or HSSE variants. At Nachreiner, we focus on DIN 340 twist drills in HSSE with a titanium coating due to their high durability and longer service life. This makes our tools versatile for a wide range of metalworking applications. The outstanding quality of our metal drills is well-known in the industry and among our loyal customers. Our commitment to delivering the best product at a fair price also applies to DIN 340 twist drills. Notably, adherence to DIN standards alone does not indicate the quality of a DIN 340 twist drill. Standards compliance only confirms that the design features meet the required specifications and that the tool is fundamentally suitable for its intended purpose. However, tool lifespan, durability, material quality, and manufacturing precision can vary significantly by manufacturer and price category. Poor tool quality ultimately impacts the quality of workpieces, and premature wear—common in cheaper products—further diminishes any apparent cost savings. For this reason, we always recommend that our customers choose only high-quality products and rely on Nachreiner’s DIN 340 twist drills.
DIN 340 Twist Drills in HSS and HSSE Variants
Our range of metal drills generally includes both HSS and HSSE options. If a particular variant is missing from the catalog, please reach out to us directly. We can often suggest alternatives that are ideally suited to your application. If a standard solution is unavailable, we can also provide custom tool configurations. Additionally, we offer a selection of special coatings for twist drills and other cutting tools to better suit specific applications. The HSSE variant contains added cobalt, differentiating it from HSS. This allows more effective machining of metals with high strength values. Furthermore, DIN 340 twist drills are suitable for working with other materials that have similar properties to common metals (e.g., tough plastics). In addition to drills according to DIN 340, our range includes compliant tools according to:
- DIN 338
- DIN 341
- DIN 345
- DIN 1897
- DIN 1870
as well as various other industry standards. As always, if a specific version is missing, please contact us directly to check availability. We also offer a cost-effective regrinding service for dull twist drills to extend the life of quality tools.
